Vice-Regal. His Excellency the Governor-Gen-eral, attended by Lieutenant S. R. le H. Lombard-Hobson, A.D.C., R.N., returned to Wellington by the inter-island express steamer yesterday morning. Sir H Lindo Ferguson, Dunedin, returned to Wellington yesterday by the Rangitata from London. With him was Lady Ferguson. The Hon. Mr. Justice Reed, chairman of the Prisons Board, and Lady Reed, returned to Wellington by the steamer express yesterday. Mr. H. B. Lusk, Crown Prosecutor at Napier, is on a visit to Wellington. Mr. A. H. Johnstone, K.C., Auckland, is visiting Wellington. Mr. W. N. Norwood, Wellington, was a passenger by the steamer express from the south yesterday. Mr. T. C. Brash returned to, Wellington yesterday after visiting Christchurch.

Mr. B. L. Dallard, Under-Secretary for Justice and Controller of Prisons, arrived at Wellington by the steamer express from the south yesterday. Colonel George Holmes, of the Salvation Army, London, is at present visiting Wellington. He is to leave to-day for Palmerston North. Messrs. G. M. Robertson, E. L. Morgan, and W. G. Barnett have been appointed honorary inspectors of scenic reserves.

Mr. C. Peto-Bennett, a London timber merchant, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Rangitata from London.

Bishop Brodie and Bishop Whyte arrived at Wellington from Auckland yesterday. They had been attending the Roman Catholic centenary celebrations.

Mr. Douglas M. Spedding, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday to attend a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Rugby Union. /

Mr H. K. Tait, of the State Advances Corporation, Christchurch, has received notice of his transfer to the head office. He -will leave for Wellington on March 19. Mr. Adrian K. Quist, Melbourne, noted Australian Davis Cup player, who has been making a tour of New Zealand, is now at Auckland. He will leave by the Awatea for Australia on Tuesday.

The Rev. A. V. Whiting, formerly minister of the Beresford Street Congregational Church, Auckland, has accepted a call to the Yeoville Congregational Church, Johannesburg, South’ Africa, and will begin his ministry there on Sunday, April 3. The Rev. John Flynn, accompanied by Mrs. Flynn, will arrive at Wellington to-day. Mr. Flynn, who is the superintendent of the Australian Inland Mission and founder of Australia’s “Flying Doctor” scheme, will preach In St. Andrew’s Church, The Terrace, to-morrow morning, ■ and in St. John’s Church, Willis Street, in the evening. He will also address a public meeting in the Town Hall next yuesday,
