Mr. J. W. Andrews Asked To Accept Nomination A representative deputation of Hutt electors waited on the mayor of Lower Hutt, Mr. J. W. Andrews, on Thursday evening to ask his consent to nomination as a candidate for the Hutt constituency. Mr. Andrews undertook to give an answer shortly. A deputation of women will wait on Mr. Andrews next week with the same object. GARDEN PARTY TO-DAY AT NAI NAI CONVENT The Nai Nat convent grounds, in which a garden party will be held this afternoon, are among the show places of Wellington’s garden suburb, Lower Hutt. The opening ceremony at 3 pan. will be performed bv the Hon. W. Nash, M.P. for the district. There will be a variety of amusements and the grounds themselves merit a visit. Buses will run from Wellington as required between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., returning at 5 p.m. There is ample shelter in the grounds, whatever the weather. INQUEST ON MAN FOUND DEAD IN BED A verdict of death from heart dieease was returned at the resumed inquest yesterday at Petone into the death of Leslie Thomas Cobcroft, aged 74, railway workshops clerk, who was found dead in his bed at his home, 59 Richmond Street, Petone, on Wednesday. The district coroner, Mr. E.. Gilbertson, presided. SeniorSergeant H. C. D. Wade conducted the inquest. HIGH SCHOOL MEDICAL EXAMINATION SCHEME At the February meeting of the Hutt Valley High School board of governors a scheme for the medical examination of pupils by local practitioners who would give their services free was outlined to the board. It was reported to this month’s meeting by the principal, Mr. J. N. Millard, that the scheme was now in the hands of Dr. M. IT. Watt, DirectorGeneral of Health.
