Wellington.—Cloudy in the early morning, but a sunny afternoon with a squally northerly wind. Minimum temperature Wednesday night, 63deg.; maximum yesterday, 72.1 deg.; at 3.30 p.m., 71.5 deg. Barometer, 29.758in._ Palmerston North.—Dull and heavily overcast in the morning, with intermittent showers of rain, warm temperatures and a south-westerly wind. The sky cleared by noon and the afternoon was fine and sunny, but still with a boisterdus wind. Masterton.—Bright and sunny, with a steady westerly wind. Wanganui.—Sunny for the most part, with a fresh westerly wind. Considerable sea on Wanganui bar. At 4 p.m. the barometer was steady at 29.94 in. New Plymouth.—Light rain in the early morning, clearing to bright sunshine; calm and warm. Barometer at 5 p.m. 29.90 in. . Waipukurau.—A perfect day, with bright sunshine; temperature 77deg. Napier and Hastings.—Fine and warm during the morning, with a light, south-westerly breeze, veering to westerly and becoming strong in the afternoon, with the temperature rising considerably. Auckland.—After an overcast morning, with rain early, the weather in the afternoon was clear and fine, the wind being fresh from the west. The maximum temperature was 78deg. The barometer continued to show a falling tendency. . , Christchurchßrilliantly fine, with a moderate south-westerly wind in the morning. The maximum temperature was 69.8 deg. The wind became stronger and cooler in the afternoon, changing to a north-easterly. The barometer read 29.89 in. and was rising. Dunedin.—-Mild, with intermittent sunshine and several light rain showers. There was a light to moderate breeze from the south-west. The temperature reached a maximum of 66deg.
