Commanders’ Messages To Lord Galway
A message from Commandant Auphan, of the French cruiser Jeanne d’Arc, received by the GovernorGeneral, Lord Galway, reads: —"On leaving New Zealand waters I wish to assure your Excellency of the pleasant memories of our stay carried away by all on board the Jeanne d’Arc and to convey to your Excellency my warmest thanks. (Sgd.) Auphan, Commandant, Jeanne d’Arc.” His Excellency has received the following radio message from Captain R. W. Mathewson, of the United States cruiser Louisville:— “On departing from New Zealand the captain and ship's company of the Louisville desire to thunk you for your kind greeting of welcome and for the many courtesies extended during our most .enjoyable visit. We take with us pleasant memories of our stay. All hope soon to have the privilege of an early return. (Sgd.) R. W. .Mathewson, Captain UiS.N. Commanding.”
