Rowing Regatta TENNIS STARS AT MIRAMAR Swimming Carnival Au important event ou to-day’s outdoor programme will be the annual Wellington rowing regatta, for which 85 entries have been from 11 clubs. The Koro Koro course will be used if the wind is from the north, but if a southerly prevails the regatta will be held on the Oriental Bay course, with the Taranaki Street wharf as the finishing post. The Janie Seddoti will follow each race, and the programme will open with the race for the junior welter fours at 1.30 p.in. Swimming Carnival at Te Aro. The postponed carnival of the Wellington Amateur Swimming Club will be held at To Aro Baths this afternoon, commencing at 2.30 o’clock. The elub is presenting a most attractive programme, one of the best so far arranged this season. It will be of exceptional interest to parents of primary and secondary school pupils competing in the Coltman and Duthie Cups and Maxwell trophies. Record entries have been received. Features on the programme beside the primary and secondary school relay races will be the 220yds. breaststroke centre championship, the popular Walker and Hall inter-club relav championship, interhouse relay, and a water polo match between two of the leading A grade teams. A loudspeaker system Inis been installed for the occasion, so that patrons will have no difficulty in following the races and results. Tennis Stars at Miramar. Followers of lawn tenuis will have the privilege this afternoon of seeing Adrian Quist, the noted Australian Davis Cup player, in action on the Miramar courts. The Australian will meet A. C. Stedman, the New Zealand Davis Cup representative, in a singles match, and later will partner D. G. France against Stedman and D. C. Coombe in a doubles match. Four junior boys will supply a doubles match as a preliminary at 1.30 pan., and the singles match between Quist and Stedman will commence at 2 o’clock. Wellington Tennis League. The Wellington Cricket Association will continue its grade championship competitions this afternoon, when the eighth series of matches in the senior championship contest will be concluded. Institute Old Boys, who are leading with 36 points, will have to bat well to defeat Karori, who last Saturday hit up 205 for the loss of seven wieketa. The teams are meeting on the Karori ground. Kilbirnie, who are second on the championship ladder with 34 points, should score a win over University, who have 11 runs on for no wickets in reply to Kilbirnie’s solid score of 356. This match is being played on the Kilbirnie Recreation Ground. "Wellington College Old Boys, with 373 runs on for the loss of eight wickets, have set Hutt a hard task on the Hutt Recreation Ground.
