HIGH TEMPERATURES
Weather In Southland By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, February 24. The highest temperature recorded in Invercargill since 1925 was registered to-day, the reading being SGdeg. With the exception of 1925 it is probably the highest ever recorded here. The summer in Southland has been extremely dry and very hot, and if there is no rain soon the position will become serious. Already many pastures are burnt almost beyond recovery and dairy production is being retarded. The temperature at Gore yesterday was 92deg.
