Fields For Minor Events

SUMMARY OF FORM

(By Overcheck.) The following is a brief summary of the more recent form of tbe horses engaged in other than the two principal races at Ulareville to-morrow Carterton and Greytown Handicaps. Several of the runners in the Carterton and Greytown - Handicaps have winning or placed performances to their credit. Bayard has contested eight races for a win and two seconds. At Wellington, in September he ran second over ten furlongs in 2.59, while at Ashburton in December he was similarly placed over twelve furlongs in 3.26 4-5. His winning effort was registered at Westland last month, when he went 3.5 for ten and a half furlongs.

Crystal Chimes has had two unsuccessful outings this season. At the Manawatu meeting in April last he nearly brought off a surprise in the opening event, when he defeated all but Grattan Girl, registering 3.34. Lola Bingen ran .a third at Clareville on Boxing Day, registering 2.55 3-5 for ten furlongs. ■ Max Havoc was also placed at Clareville in December, his time being 2.51 for a mile and a quarter. Sans Pareil has raced six times'for a win and two placed performances. At Wellington in October he ran second over twelve furlongs in 3.34. At Clareville on Boxing Day he ran third over a mile and a half in 3.34 2-5, and won over ten furlongs in 2.55 1-5. Te Moki had two unsuccessful outings at Carterton in December, while Ayrshire was placed second in one of the two races he contested. This was the mile saddle, his time being 2.19 4-5. Playful has one win and a second to his credit, both registered at Clareville in December. He won over twelve furlongs in 3.33 1-5 and was placed at ten furlongs, which he ran in 2.55 2-5. Travelwell has made four appearances for a win and a second, both registered at Nelson in January, Both races were of ten furlongs, Travelwell going 2.50 in one and 2.50 4-5 in the other.

Acora has had a fair share of racing for two wins, two seconds, and a third. In October she was twice placed at Wellington. At Manawatu in November she won over a mile and a half in 3.27 3-5, while at Carterton in December she ran second in the mile saddle race; and'won over ten furlongs in 2.50 3-5. Philario is a young horse that has shown eoueiderable promise. He commenced the season with five unplaced efforts, since when he has only once been out of a place. His record now stands at two wins, three seconds, and a third out of twelve attempts. Both wins were registered at Nelson when he went 3.20 and 2.51 2-5 for twelve and ten furlong-; respectively. At New Brighton last week he ran second in 2,47 2-5 —a really good effort.

Irish Aggie has yet to win this seat-on, her record at the moment standing at. a second and a third out of eight starts. At Forbury in November she ran third in 3.26 3-5, while she was second at Gore over ten furlongs run in 2.49 2-5. Unhoppled Trotters. Some of the horses engaged in the Taratahi and -Moron Handicaps have yet to face the starter, while others have raced this season without returning anything toward their keep. The form of the others is as under:— Princess Beverley ran second in her first attempt at Ashburton in December, and registered the smart time of 3.33. Biworthy has three placed performances to his credit. At Manawatu in December he ran second over 12 furlongs in 3.37 1-5. Later the same month he ran third at Auckland in 3.32, while be was similarly placed at. two miles, which he covered in 4.50 3-5. Margaret Parrish has speed, but as a rule stops very quickly. She has raced three times this season for a second at Clareville, when she registered 3.39 1-5. Unworthy also has had three starts for a third, also registered at Carterton, his time being 3.38 1-5. Air Pilot has had four races in the last of which he was a comfortable winner. This, too, was at Carterton, in December, when he ran two miles in 4.57 4-5. Martinborough and Featherston Handicaps. Of the horses engaged in the Martinborough and Featherston Handicaps, only three have any- placed performances to their credit this season. They are: — Sewana. was third to Maltravers ami Myrtle Oro at Wellington early this month, when he registered 2.51 for ten furlongs. Guy Zolock ran third at Wellington in September and was similarly placed at

Manawatu, when he covered ten furlongs in 2.54 3-5. He cannot, by any stretch of imagination be regarded as a good horse, but the company he will be meeting is hot of high calibre. Myrtle Oro was placed in the last four races she has contested. These performances were all registered at the last meeting of the Wellington Trotting Club, her best times being 3.26 3-5 and 2.47 2-5 for twelve and ten furlongs respectively. She has had a change of stables and this may have an influence—beneficial or otherwise —on her form.
