Mr. Paul Schramm To Settle In Wellington
Definite news has been received from Perth, West Australia, of the Intention H’ Mr. Paul Schramm, the gifted pianist and conductor, to settle in Wellington. Mr, Schramm visited New Zealand a few weeks ago under engagement to the National Broadcasting Service, and succeeded In commanding the respect of everyone by his fine scholarship in music, his brilliance as a pianist. , , r . Being the conductor of the Batavia Symphony Orchestra, in Java, his capabilities as a conductor are well established. The climate of Java became too enervating for .Mrs. Schramm, and after a good look round Australia and New Zealand Mr. Schramm decided ou Wellington. In Perth, Mr. Schramm had the pleasure of hearing for the - first time his new orchestral composition “Theme 'with Six Variations in Classical Style’ and a “Partita,” which he also hoped to perform on his return to Batavia in April. The Schramms have a contract for a two-piano tour in Australia which will keep them there from the end of April until July; then they will come on to New Zealand.
