New Charge Nurse
A cordial welcome was extended to Miss Samson, the new charge nurse, at the monthly meeting of the Wellington branch of the Plunket Society, at ufliich the'president, Mrs. H. Jowett, was in the chair. Miss Samson took up her duties at the beginning of the month. She commenced her training as a nurse at the Wanganui Public Hospital in 1923, later taking her midwifery at St. Helens Hospital, Wellington. Her Plunket training was taken at Dunedin and her public health diploma at Wellington. Miss Strmson has had wide experience in district Plunket work and as a sister at the Karltane Hospital. She has just returned from a 12 months’ trip abroad, during which she attended the International Conference of Nurses in London, where she also made many interesting contacts with Child Welfare work.
A sincere vote of thanks was passed to Miss Hitchman for her conscienti ous w’ork as acting-charge nurse. She was granted -12 months’ leave of absence, which she intends spending abroad.
The resignation of the matron, Miss Templeton, to take effect from the end of March, was received with very great regret, a motion of appreciation of her work being passed. A motion of sympathy with the relatives' of the late Mrs. W. S. Pearce was passed, members standing in silence for a 1 few moments.
