KILLING CHARGES INCREASED
Hawke’s Bay Freezing Works Dominion Special Service. Napier, February 2. An “increase in killing charges has been announced by freezing wrnrks operating, in Hawke’s Bay. The increase amounts to .05 of a penny a pound on meat killed at the works. Before the increase was made the charge for killing lambs had been .65 pence a pound. The percentage advance in other classes of stock handled at the works varies according to the previous charges made. It is stated that the increased charges are mainly due to the recentlyannounced freezing workers’ award, although rising costs in other directions are partly responsible.
