Ministerial. The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Education, returned to Wellington from the South Island yesterday morning. ' The Hon. R. Semple, Minister of Public Works, will return to Wellington from the north to-day. The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, AttorneyGeneral, is visiting the Taranaki district. The Hon. W. Lee Martin, Minister of Agriculture, will preside at a lecture to be delivered at Palmerston North on Thursday by Dr. John Hammond, of Cambridge University, who has come to New Zealand to investigate problems of animal nutrition. The Hon. W. Nash,, Minister of Finance, will leave Wellington for Napier to-day. The Minister had intended to leave for Hawke's Bay yesterday, but pressure of official business prevented him from doing so. i ' Sir R. Heaton Rhodes, Christchurch, and Mr. J. H. Rhodes will leave Bluff in the Maunganui on February 7 on a short visit to Australia. The Hon. Mr. Justice Reed arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Limited express. He was accompanied by Lady Reed. Mr. E. Anderson, Auckland, arrive! from the north yesterday by the Limited express. Mr. R. Hudson, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express. Mr. E. C. S. Falconer, Dunedin, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the steamer express. Mr. V. R. Meredith, Crown Prosec/ tor at Auckland, arrived at Wellington yesterday by the Limited express. Bloodworth, M.L.C., chairman of- the Auckland Harbour Board, arrived from Auckland yesterday by the Limited express. Mr. Ken. Alexander, manager of Gordon and Gotch (N.Z.), Advertising, Ltd., and Mrs. Alexander, will leave for Auckland in the Matua to-day.

Mr. J. Ewart, one of the last botanical trainees to go from New Zealand to the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew, London, recently received an important position at Singapore. Mr. J. F. Goldstone, of the» Public Works Department, Wellington, who has been visiting Auckland in connection with the Government housing scheme, returned by the Limited express yesterday. Major L. H. Potter, N.Z.S.C., has been transferred from the Northern Military District to take over the duties of Commandant of the Central Military District -School in place of Major A. E. Conway, N.Z.S.C., who has now assumed the duties of Deputy-Quartermaster at General Army Headquarters. Major-General J. E. Duigan, C. 8., D. 5.0., chief of the general staff, New Zealand Military Forces, left Christchurch for Dunedin yesterday. He will Inspect the 3rd. Composite Infantry Battalion, which is in camp at Waikouaiti under the command of Major J. M. Samson.

Mr. C. K. Sheard, assistant manager of the Bank of New South Wales, Queen Street, Auckland, has been appointed manager of the post office branch, Brisbane, Queensland, and will leave for Australia by the Niagara' on February 8. Mr. Hargreaves late assistant to the inspector of the Victoria division of the bank, has been appointed assistant manager at Auckland in place of Mr.' Sheard,
