ATTRACTIVE AND USEFUL BAGS
Scraps Of Material And Ribbon Used In Applique Work HANDCRAFTS, No. I—By Walda Johnson. JJAGS for specific purposes in a family home are an aid to tidiness and good housekeeping. They make useful gifts and can be made attractively with a little time and care.
GAVE the scraps of material and ribbon which are left over from dressmaking, however tiny they may be. It is a good idea to make a bag specially to keep them in. Crash is an excellent material of which to make a bag that is to be ap-. pliqued, and applique is quite the quickest way to decorate large surfaces. With a little practice and a good open design it can be managed quite easily. When a coloured design has been
appliqued on to the bag. one side should be sewn on to a coathanger and it should then be kept in a handy place where scraps of velvet, satin and silk may be added to the stock.
The duster bag in the illustration explains itself. The peg-bag is made of strong crash securely fastened on to a coathanger. The hook is then bent inwards and remains on the clothes line always, easily slipped along when pegs are needed.
