FORECAST FOR TO-DAY’S WEATHER.
Northerly Change; Unsettled Conditions, But Warmer. Following is the weather report and forecast issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, for the 24 hours ending 3 p.m. to-day:— An anti-cyelone of rather slight intensity is crossing the Dominion, and a deep westerly depression covers south-eastern Australia and the western Tasman Sea, and is moving eastward. The forecast is for winds variable at first in the Cook Strait area, otherwise north-easterly to northerly prevailing, later backing to north-westerly; force light to moderate, but gradually freshening south of New Plymouth ana Castlepoint. , r A considerable but decreasing southerly swell on the east coast or the North Island; elsewhere in New Zealand waters slight to moderate, but later rising in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas. •. . Light to moderate north-east to northerly winds in the northern portion ot the eastern Tasman Sea, with slight to moderate seas; freshening north-westerly winds and rising seas in the southern portion. Weather fair to fine generally at first, but unsettled conditions and scattered rain *' developing in Westland and the far south, and later extending to most districts with a westerly aspect. . Temperatures rising.
