HOME FOR CATS

A Liverpool Legacy Cats in Liverpool are probably going to be better looked after than those in any other city. Despite the fact that a fine new £l6OO Cats’ Shelter was opened by the Liverpool Branch of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals recently, plans are going ahead for the erection of an even more luxurious and independent home for cats. The second home i s to result from legacies left by AMennan William Boote and his widow. Altogether there will be some £lB,OOO available for the purchase and endowment of the building. The fund is being administered by the Public Trustee and is being considered by the Charity Commissioners. At first it was thought that the will might be upset on the grounds that a second cats’ home was redundant, but legal experts do not take this view. Further trustees will, therefore be appointed. Aiderman Boote. who died in 1924. was chairman of the original Liverpool Cats’ Shelters. The £12.000 left for the cats’ home remained in trust until the death of his widow, and some £6OOO was added to it in her will.
