LONDON STOCK EXCHANGE Franc Continues To Fall London, January 26. The severe fall in the French franc continues despite a successful attempt by the authorities to squeeze the “bears” yesterday. The cause of the decline chiefly lies in the introduction of a labour code which would precipitate a fresh political crisis. The Stock Exchange markets remain somnolent. Gilt-edged stocks arc quietly firm. The 3i per cent. British Mar Loan is quoted at £lO3. Share quotations include:—Clutha River Company, buyers 1/10-1, sellers 2/1 j ; Molyneux River Company, buyers 1/3, sellers 1/4J. Mount Lyell shares are quoted at 26/3. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. shares, ordinary £3B/10/-, preference £B6. A fortnight ago ordinaries were quoted at £42/10/- and preference at £B7/15/-.
