Concluding Business To-day PRESIDENT ELECTED The conference of the New Zealand Master Grocers’ Federation, which opened at Wellington on Tuesday, was attended yesterday morning by members of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association, who took part in a discussion on matters pertaining to the grocery trade. The opinion that the purchasers should share liability with the seller in “after-hour” trading was expressed by delegates attending the conference, and a remit was carried urging that consideration be given to the question of approaching the Government with the object of securing amending legislation. The fixing of a minimum retail price on their foodstuffs’ lines by manufacturers was favoured, and a remit was carried suggesting that the Government give manufacturers the necessary permission. In the morning also a deputation from the conference waited on the Bureau of Industry in connection with (the Pharmacy Reorganisation Plan. Delegates were the guests of the Ford Motor Company in an afternoon visit to the company’s factory at Lower Hutt. Conference resumed at night, and Mr. T. E. Price, Auckland, delivered a paper on “These Fifty Years.”

Mr. M. Campbell, Dunedin, was elected president and Mr. J. S. Turnbull, Wellington, president-elect. The executive for the year is to be located at Wellington. This morning the delegates will be shown over the premises of the Municipal Milk Department, and the closing business of the conference, including the installation of the president, will be taken this afternoon.
