C.I.O.’s PEACE OFFER
Rejection By Federation Of Labour (Received January 27, 8.55 p.m.) Washington, January 26. Mr. John L. Lewis, chairman of the committee for Industrial Organisation, offered conditional peace to the American Federation of Labour. His offer wag that the latter would absorb tiie Committee for Industrial Organisation or vice versa, but he reiterated that the Committe for Industrial Organisation was unwilling to surrender. Mr. William Green, president of the federation, who is at Miami, rejected the offer, which he termed as “ the same old thing” and identical with the impossible peace plan Mr. Lewis previously advanced. “We are ready to resume negotiations as soon as the Committee for Industrial Organisation takes the initiative, but, the latest statement by Mr. Lewis does not offer a basis for discussion,” he said.
