“A SOCIALIST PARTY”
Description Of Present Government Dominion Special Service. Waipukurau, January 2G. Speaking at Tokapau, which will in future be in the Pahiatua electorate, Sir Alfred Ransom said that the present Government was nothing more nor less than a Socialist party. They had already fixed the price and taken over much of the country’s produce and their ultimate aim was the nationalisation of the land. In spite of promises to reduce taxation it had increased, and was throttling individual enterprise and the finer qualities of mankind. It was not, he said, his intention that night to declare the National Party’s platform, but the principles were private enterprise, reduction of taxation and a good land settlement scheme. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the speaker.
