SANCTIONS FAILURE

Settlement With Italy

Advocated

Stockholm, January 18.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Richard J. Sandler, has called on nations which adopted sanctions against Italy in 1936 to devise a joint settlement of their relations with Italy.

“The League of Nations,” he said, “is evidently incapable of effective intervention when the interests of the Great Powers are really at stake. Since the participation of Sweden in sanctions relations between Italy and Sweden have, remained irregular, and the Government. believes such a position should be settled.”
