British Exchequer Returns (British Official Wireless.) London, January 18. The British Exchequer returns show that total ordinary revenue amount* to £548,863,823, compared with £520.545,947 at the corresponding date in 1937. Trade With Canada As New Zealand has been such a good customer of Canada’s for a long period, it is very gratifying .to note a large increase in Canada’s imports from New Zealand during the first half of the year 1937. London Wool Charges Increased .Sanderson, Murray mid Elder Ltd.. London and Bradford, have advised their Wellington correspondents, Murray, Roberts and Co., of increased charges for the London colonial wool sales. The rates came into force on October 8. Bates and charges (other than rent) —the deduction of 7) per cent, off rates and charges has been cancelled and the rates and charges have been increased by 5 per cent., representing a total increase of 124 per cent. Hates and charges formerly shown as net were increased by .12} per cent. The new rates were applied to wool ex ships breaking bulk on and after October 8. 1937. Rent charges shown as net were increased by 2} per cent. Commonwealth Bank Changes The governor of the Commonwealth Bank, Sir Ernest Riddle, has tendered his resignation to the Federal Ministry, and he will vacate the position on February 28. Tie will be succeeded by Sir Harry" Sheehan, secretary to the Federal Treasury. Mr. S. G. McFarlane, official secretary in London, will become secretary to the Treasury, and Mr, J. S. Duncan, deputy-director of Posts and Telegraphs, will replace Mr. McFarlane in London.
