CHRISTMAS TRADE
Extra Note Issue By Bank Of England
(Received December 20, 5.5 p.m.)
London, December 20.
“The Times” says the Bank of England has issued £25,000,000 worth of extra notes to meet the enormous demand for Christmas trade. As each will circulate through several hands it is reasonable to suggest that £100,000,000 is likely to be spent on festivities.
The mint has issued 4.000,000 George VI threepences and 15,000,000 new sixpences.
