Vice-Regal. The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, accompanied by his new nayal aide-de-camp,, Lieutenant S. R. Le H. Lombard-Hobson, R.N., left Auckland by train for New Plymouth on Sunday night. His Excellency will visit Wanganui and Marton before returning to Auckland to-morrow. Ministerial. The Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, Prime Minister, will leave Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express tonight.

Mr. A. R. Hislop left Wellington for the south last night. Dr. T. R. Ritchie was a passenger for the south by the steamer express last night. Mr. R. A. Spinley, Auckland, arrived by the Limited express yesterday morning. Mr. Victor C. Peters, Christchurch, will leave from Auckland to-day for a tour of England and America. Mr. M. K. Draflin, Auckland, was among the passengers to arrive by the Limited express yesterday. Mr. A. E. Caddick, headmaster of the Christchurch West High School, is a visitor to Wellington. Mr. W. S. Newburgh, Christchurch, was among the passengers to arrive by the steamer "express, on Sunday morning.

Mr. Roy Nelson, New Zealand publicity director for New Universal Films, returned to Wellington from the south at the week-end, and left for Auckland last night. Mr. N. J. Smith, London, arrived at Wellington by the Strathaird yesterday. He will remain in New Zealan'd until March 10, when he will leave for London by the Rangitiki.

Mr. H. E. Jarman, manager of the Christchurch tramways, arrived in Wellington at the week-end. 'He will tour the North Island and return to Christchurch on January 3.

Mr. F. Burley, governing director of Berlei (United Kingdom) Ltd. and its associated New Zealand and Australian companies, travelled with Mrs. Burley by air from Dunedin to Auckland yesterday.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Shaw Savill arrived at Wellington iu the cruise liner Strathaird yesterday and will spend three months in the Dominion. They intend to visit Mr. Savill’s brother, Mr. F. J. Savill, Springs. Mr. M. Fraser, C.V.0., 0.8. E., accompanied by Mrs. Fraser, returned to Wellington yesterday in the cruise liner Strathaird, after a six-months tour abroad, including visits to England, Scotland, Germany, and the south of France.

Professor A. St. George Huggett anil Mr. Cecil P. G. Wakeley, of London, who conducted last week the primary examination for the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, returned to Wellington from the south at the week-end.

Mr. Oscar Natzke, who was sent to Trinity College of Music, London, by a number of Auckland citizens, recently won a special prize for the best pupil in the college with 9-1 marks out of 100. This if the highest number of points ever awarde’d in the particular examination.

Mr. Noel Newson, a well-known Christchurch pianist, will leave Auckland to-day by the Awatea for Sy'dney to fulfil a three-weeks engagement with the Australian Broadcasting Com.jnlssipn. Mr. Newson will spend two weeks in Sydney and one week in Melbourne, and will return Late in January.

Mr. J. R. Kelly was presented with an inscribed gold watch by Mr. W. IT. Firth, managing director of W. IT. Firth and Co., at a gathering of the staff recently. Mr. Firth referred to the goodwill that existed among all members of the staff, and said that in no small degree this was due to Mr. Kelly’s fine record of service. Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Woods have returned to Dunedin from England. Mr. Woods has been away for the past two years carrying out a research in certain problems of Industrial organisation under a fellowship awarde’d by the Rockefeller Foundation of Paris, and has spent periods of study in the International Labour Office at Geneva and in Germany and in Italy, as well as 18 months’ study of organisation for industrial relationships in the major industries in various parts of Great Britain. Mr. and Mrs. Woods also visited France, Switzerland, Czechoslovakia, and Austria.
