Wellington Markets .Dull BANK OF N.Z. ACTIVE Apart from some activity in Bank of New Zealandshares, there was very little doing on the Wellington Stock Exchange yesterday. The markets continued quiet on a slack demand and the recorded turnover was limited. Three parcels of 34 per cent. Government stock, 1939-52, went at £lOl/5/-, ' and a small lot of 4 per cent. 1952-55 sold a little easier at £lO2/2/6. ’ There was a fair demand for banks, but quotations showed no strength. Five-par-cels of New Zealands sold at 43/11 to 44/-. National of New Zealand were wanted at 54/3, sellers holding for 50/-. Others showed little or no change. There were sellers of Dalgetys at £9/7/-. Goldsbrough Morts were firm at 33/-, sellers 33/0. Insurance shares were very dull, and Nationals were marked down to 17/-. sellers asking 17/5. Industrial and trading issues were easy on a slack demand. Broken Hill Proprietary were wanted at 03/3, sellers asking 3d. better. British Tobacco were firm at 49/10, sellers 50/6. Chain stores were steady at late rates. Dunlop Perdrians were firm at 22/6, sellers 22/10. Mount Lyells and Barriers were easier, the former being quoted at 30/5. sellers 30/9. ex dividend.
