FATAL ACCIDENT
Car Strikes Telegraph Pole
Miss Alison Burch, aged 18, Rata Street, Eastbourne, died in the Wellington Hospital yesterday at 3.20 p.m. as a result of injuries she received in a road accident at Upper Hutt shortly after midnight on Saturday. The driver of the car in which she was a passenger, Mr. Charles Naughton Derek Taylor, a medical student, aged 19,'who received a cut on the wrist and head injuries, was discharged from hospital yesterday afternoon. The car was being driven in a southerly direction, and on approaching the main part of the Upper Hutt township the car left the road and struck a telegraph pole. A bus travelling in the same direction discovered the damaged car shortly after the accident happened. Miss Burch was admitted to hospital with serious injuries, both legs being broken.
