JVanganui Substantial Lead On Wellington

Wanganui, December 20.

The annual cricket match between the first elevens representing Wellington College and Wanganui Collegiate School opened in fine weather at Wanganui today. The wicket was in good order and when stumps were drawn Collegiate were five wickets down for 124 in their second innings.

Collegiate opened their first innings on an uncertain note and seven wickets went down for 55. W. E. Nilsson and A. Renshaw then became associated in a partnership which mastered the bowling •f Wellington College. At the luncheon .adjournment Collegiate had 170 on for the loss of seven wickets. When he had compiled 81 runs Nilsson was run out. Renshaw (51) went out l.b.w. to Greig. Wellington College opened with small scoring, and at the end of the innings were all out for GO, giving Collegiate a good lead. In the aunual cricket match, Nelson College beat New Plymouth Boys’ High School hero to-day by six wickets. Nelson scored 200 and 190 for four wickets. New Plymouth scored 161 and 228.

The lorry reported, to have been burnt on the Wellington side of the Mungaroa hill on Saturday afternoon was owned by Mr. W. McGill, of Featherston. Fire broke out in the miscellaneous load, and was not noticed by the driver until the flames had a good hold.
