PRISONER ESCAPES
Dash From Railway Station At Palmerston North
Dominion Special Service. Palmerston North, December 20.
While being taken on the Palmerston North railway station to the Limited express at about 9.45 to-night a prisoner, who was being escorted by the police from Hastings to Auckland, suddenly darted between the engine and the first carriage and escaped at the back of the railway yards. The alarm was given immediately but no trace of the man was found.
The prisoner was Frederick Hendry, aged about 60 years. He is sft. lOin. in height, of medium build, with grey hair and eyes, has a grey moustache, and is deaf. He was dressed in a grey suit.
