WARNING AT CROSSING
Wanganui Complaint
Dominion Special Service
Wanganui, December 16.
A complaint concerning the alleged failure of the Rajiway Department to show a warning light at the Taupo Quay level crossing after a certain hour at night has been investigated by the Automobile Association (Wanganui). The subject was introduced at the November executive meeting of the association by Mr. T. Dix, who declared that it was the practice of the department not to show a warning sign or light at the crossing after a certain hour. Mr. Dix added that he narrowly averted a collision with a train through the fact that though the porter was on duty he failed to show any warning light. The secretary, Mr. F. J. Hill, told members of the executive to-night that he had been informed bv the stationmaster that according to regulations a special light should be shown at all hours of the night to warn motorists using Taupo Quay and Heads Road that a train was approaching the crossing.
