Markets Sluggish AN EASIER TENDENCY Little change was seen yesterday in the Wellington stock and share markets, which continued sluggish, with an easy trend. Trading was inactive and the recorded turnover limited. The gilt-edged sections were quiet, deal; ings being confined to small parcels of 4 per cent. Government stock, 1943-46 and 1946-40, which sold at unchanged rates, and a small lot of Christchurch Tramways 4} per cents. Interest in banks was languid, numerous sellers offering. New South_ Wales had unsupported Injyers at £32/15/-, and New Zealands were wanted at 43/6, sellers asking 44/-. Pastorals were dull, Dalgetys easing to business at £B/19/6. Goldsbrotigh Morts sold 3d. down at 32/8, and two parcels of Younghusbands went at 33/6. Insurance shares were weaker. Nationals eased to 17/1, sellers 17/6, New Zealands to 62/3, sellers 63/6, and South British were wanted at 96/9. Union Steam preference sold firmly at 27/3. New Zealand industrials were dull and on the easy side. New Zealand Refrigerating sold down to 18/6. New Zealand Breweries were easier at 45/-, sellers 46/-.
