NEW ARMY DRESS
Sample Of Uniform
Sent For
“We are anxious to have our men looking smart and neatly turned out,” said the Minister of Defence, Hon. F. Jones, yesterday, announcing that steps were being taken to provide the Territorial Forces with a dress uniform for ceremonial and social wear.
The Minister said he was awaiting the arrival of a sample of a blue uniform used in Australia, which he. would examine, together with other uniforms, before making a choice. The form of headdress to be worn with the new uniform was also under consideration. “We have not decided on the colour yet,” Mr. Jones said. “In Great Britain a blue uniform is worn, but there has been some criticism of it, perhaps because it may be of a poor type. In New Zealand we are anxious to have our men looking smart and neatly turned out. In addition, the men require a change of uniform when off ordinary duty, and there is no reason why this uniform should not be made as smart as possible.”
