Vice-Regal. Hi- Excellency the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council yesterday morning. Later his Excellency received at Government House the Consul-General of the United States, Mr. Lowell C. Pinkerton. Subsequently the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Waitangi National Trust Board held at Government House. . „ During tbo afternoon bis Excellency paid a visit to St. Patrick’s College, Silverstreom.

Mr. W. G. Riddell, Wellington, was a passenger in the steamer express to the south last night. , Mr. V. Rains, Transport Licensing Authority at Dunedin, arrived in Wellington yesterday. Mr. F. W. Maples, Christchurch, returned to the south by the steamer express from last night.

Mr. James Begg, Dunedip, arrived at Wellington yesterday morning by the steamer express from the south. Mr. D. M. Walter, of the Vacuum Oil Co. Proprietory, Ltd., left Wellington on the afternoon express for Auckland yesterday. The Hon. Adam Hamilton, Leader of the National Party, and Mrs. Hamilton, will visit Palmerston North to attend the Royal Show on Saturday.

Mr. J. Dowgray, Westport, a director of the Bank of New Zealand, returned to the south last night in the steamer express.

Mr. L. K. Cameron, of the Bank of New South Wales, was a passenger to the south last night in the Rangatira.

Mr. F. J- Ansell, of the J. 0. Williamson Picture Corporation (N.Z.) Ltd., returned to Wellington yesterday from Auckland by the Limited express. Mr. G. M. Dillon, general manager of Warner Bros. First National Pictures, Ltd., left Wellington last night on the Limited express for Auckland. Mr. A. L. Smith, of the Australasia, Texas Co., Ltd., was a passenger on the Limited express for Auckland last niglit. Mr. T. Fogg, Dunedin, was a passenger in the steamer express from the south yesterday on his way to Palmerston North.

Messrs. H. D. Acland and A. S. Holmes, representatives on the New Zealand Meat Board, were passengers in the steamer express to the south last night. Mr. C. C. Odlin, managing director of the C. and A. Odlin Timber Co., is to leave Wellington to-day for Hawke’s Bay, Gisborne and Auckland. He is to be absent for about two weeks.

Mr. T. H. Langford, authority for the No. 3 Transport Licensing District, arrived at Wellington yesterday from Christchurch to attend a conference of licensing authorities. Mr. H. J. Bishop, assistant-secretary of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation, and Mr. W. E. Anderson, secretary of the Auckland Employers’ Association, arrived at Wellington, yesterday by the Limited express.
