Theft Of 'Suit And Case “That is a time-honoured excuse that has been used in Ibis country ever since courts were established,” said Mr. XV. F. Stilwell. S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Wellington, yesterday to James Frederick Embleton, a. seaman, aged 44, who was charged with the theft on October 21 of a suit and suitcase of a total value of £l4, the property of Harry Wentworth Lintodt. Detective-Seageaut P. Doyle said that Lintodt had not received a suitcase containing a suit which was to be left at the hotel at which lie was staying. Next morning the articles were found to have been pawned by accused. XVhen interviewed by a detective accused had said he bought the suit and suitcase from a stranger for 15/- and then pawned them. Embleton, who pleaded guilty, was convicted and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. An order was made for the return of the goods.
