SALE TO GOVERNMENT
Auckland-Hamilton Road Motor Service Dominion Special Service. Auckland, October 20. The reported sale of Markey’s Aard motor service running between Auckland and Hamilton to the Government was confirmed by the proprietors of the service. The transfer will take effect on Monday morning. The purchase involves vehicles, plant and goodwill, and the present drivers and mechanics are to continue in their employment under Government control. No real estate is included in the sale, a.s the service is not operated from st garage of its own.
The service was established as a pioneer venture on the Auckland-Ham-ilton route 10 years ago by Mr. A. <l. Markey ami his sister, who opened the first office of the Aard organisation at Auckland. It is understood that the Government intends to observe the time-tables and fares as provided for in the existing licence until further notice. The change of ownership will therefore not immediately affect the travelling public.
