ASSAULT ON GIRL ALLEGED
Young Man Oh Trial Charged with assaulting a girl of 24 with intent to rape her, and with indecently assaulting her, Rex Ronald Lane, seaman ami milita.ry cadet, aged 21, was put on trial yesterday before Mr. Justice Reed and a jury, in the Supreme Court, Wellington. The case is still proceeding. Mr. W. 11. Cunningham prosecuted, and Mr. A. J. Mazengarb appeared for the defence. It was alleged that the offence took place during a dance on the night of October 5. The defence denied the assault.
All yesterday was spent hearing evidence in a cleared court. The jury visited the scene of the incident, and inspected it.
