HOSPITALS BENEFIT
Bequests Of £48,147 Each

The Ashburton and North Canterbury Hospital Boards each benefit to the extent of £48,147 under the will of the late Miss Jane Chalmers. In a letter to tlie Ashburton board the trustees stated that the estate was sworn at £222,488, death duties amounting to £62.497 and legacies to £65,500, leaving, lifter expenses, a residue of £96,295, including two endowments of £lO,OOO each, to be divided between the two boards. The previous estimate was £30,000 each.
