REPRESENTATION ON COLLEGE BOARD

Reply to Eastbourne Complaint

In reply to statements at a recent meeting of the Eastbourne Borough Council that it was time Eastbourne had a representative on the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College board of managers it was stated by Mr. AV. V. Dyer at last night’s meeting of the board that Eastbourne had no pupils at the college. The time was overdue, if Eastbourne children were attending technical schools, r°r them to go to such a school in the Hutt Valley. He appreciated that there was transport, difficulties but the council controlled the buses and might be able to remedy these. The chairman, Mr. AV. B. Nicholson, said there was no direct representative ot any particular local body on the board. There seemed a false idea abroad as to who represented whom. There were two representatives of all local bodies within seven miles of the school, not of any one body. . , On Mr. Dyer's suggestion it was decided that the council be written to asking what facilities it would make available for Eastbourne children to attend the Hutt Valley Memorial Technical College, Fetone.
