Larger numbers of young fish than have been seen in the streams and lake shallows for several seasons past are reported from various parts of the Rotorua district at the present time. Owing to the mildness of the season indications are that the natural hatch of fry in the various streams has been larger than usual. There have been no floods iu the Tongariro River, and all the other well-known spawning grounds have been similarly undisturbed.
