MISS JEAN BATTEN’S BROTHER
Arrival at Auckland Dominion Special Service. Auckland, August 3. An interesting arrival by -the Awatea from Sydney was Mr. John Batten, brother of Miss Jean Batten. Mr. Batten has built, up a very good reputation as a screen actor and is one of the few New Zealanders to have been successful in this type of work. He is accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Madeleine Batten, who has already published two well-received novels and has had a third accepted for publication in October. • After leaving England, Mr. and Mrs. Batten made a leisurely cruise across the Pacific to Australia, where they visited Mr. Batten's mother and Miss Jean Batten who, he said, was considering .taking up a flying position there.
