» — THREAT BY REBELS * Invasion of Cuenca Province LOYALISTS REPEL ATTACKS (Received August 4,12.45 a.m.) Teruel, August 3. The possibility is growing of the rebels invading the Cuenca province and threatening the Valencia-Madrid highway, the life-line to the capital. The loyalists, however, claim to have repulsed the latest insurgent attacks, besides heavily damaging convoys and concentration camps by bombing from the air., A fierce encounter is reported in the hill village of Dornaque, from which the rebels are endeavouring to dislodge the Catalonian anarchist militia from their trenches with machine-guns and bayonets. The Government is replacing its losses, estimated by the rebels at 300 daily, by reinforcements from Cartagena. From Valencia the loyalists report an advance on the Esclampero sector of the Asturias front.
