Maori Woman Charged in Wanganui ' REMAND GRANTED Dominion Special Service. Wanganui, July 30. On a charge of doing grievous bodily harm to Albert Edward Davey, a middle-aged settler who resided at Jerusalem, on the Wanganui River, Kathleen Waitoa, a Maori woman, aged 38, appeared before Mr. J. H. Salmon, S.M., in the Wanganui Magistrate’s Court to-day, and on the application of Detective J. Murray was remanded until August 5. It was alleged by the police that the woman stabged Davey at his home near Jerusalem on July 28. “Davey is a patient in the Wanganui Hospital at the present time, and his condition is a little uncertain,” said Detective Murray in asking for the remand. On inquiries being made by “The Dominion” to-night, the Wanganui hospital authorities reported that Davey’s condition showed a slight improvement. He is considered to be out of danger.
