CANADA AND HAITI
Agreement on Tariffs A commercial agreement between Canada .and Haiti giving most-favour-ed-nation treatment in ta'riff matters, has been signed, Mr. W. D. Euler, Canadian Minister of Trade and Commerce, announced recently. The pact was signed on April 23 on behalf of Canada by the British Minister at Port-au-Prince, 'Haiti. The agreement takes the place of the “modus vivendi,” in force between the two countries since July 15, 1935. It assures that Canadian goods imported into Haiti will be granted the benefit of the minimum tariff of that country in place of the maximum tariff, which is double the minimuni tariff. The chief products exported from Canada to Haiti are flour, salted and smoked fish, and rubber tires, while imports chiefly consist of sisal and Tam■oicc fibre.
