REBUILDING SCHEME
Colonial Sugar Refining Company Sydney, July 30. The Colonial Sugar Refining Company is spending £200,000 on a rebuilding scheme to increase the capacity of its distillery at Pyrmont, and on facilities for the transport and storage of molasses. The company is embarking on the production of absolute alcohol for use as automobile fuel, especially in times of national emergency. In making this announcement, Dr. R. W. Harman, the company’s chief chemist, said that all the solvents necessary to the lacquer and explosive industries were capable of being made at a reasonable cost in Australia from Australian raw material, and this would be a stern necessity in time of war.
