WORK FOR 20 MEN
Upper Hutt Scheme to Start Shortly Official approval has been given to the employment by the Upper Hutt Borough Council of 20 registered unemployed men up to four months on a weekly subsidy of £4 a man on the following work:—Kerbing and channelling not included in the £9OOO loan proposal; obtaining gravel from river beaches for use in the above kerbing and channelling construction; road formation in the publie cemetery near the junction of the Hutt and Akatarawa Rivers; paving of footpaths in the brick area of the borough. The sum of £l36o.lias been allotted to the borough for the purposes stated. Work will start almost immediately.
