Answers to Inquiries Hybrid Freesias. —These should have been planted a month or so ago, but there is still time to do so. A medium rich, light soil, and full sunshine are the required conditions. (Miss M.C.8., Lower Hutt.) Dividing Aspidistras.-—Shake the old soil from tin* roots and divide the plant into the required number of pieces, each of which must have two or more loaves attached. Repot in (lin. pots in a soil mixture comprising 3 parts good loam. 1 part leafmould, and 1 part sand. Add a sprinkling of bonedust and soot. Mix thoroughly, insert plant and water sparingly. ("Old Fashioned,” Napier.) For Planting Under Trees.—Aucuba. an attractive berry-bearing shrub, is suitable for planting in dry, shady situations. (.T.P.C.. Wellington.) Pruning Hydrangea Paniculate.—August is the month in which to prune this particular type. Cut back Hie previous year's wood to two eyes and remove straggly growths. (R.A.G., Levin.)
