The Hide Market Reviewing the hide market on June 24. AV. Weddel and Co., Ltd., London, stated that the main support to the Plate market was given by U.S.A, buyers while Europe has been holding back. The recent political events in Europe have uot helped to strengthen buyers’ confidence in the* future, but it is hoped that continued steadiness in North America and the Plate will bring about better sentiment. Miscellaneous and colonial markets are still rather quiet, and the general tendency of prices has been downward. Queensland Meats, for instance, have now been sold at B]d. Freezer cowhides, 30/50 lb„ are freely offered at 7d., and even lower bids are invited. Very little trading Is going on in dry South Americans, and prices are nominally at 9]d. for B.A. Americanos. The Cape market is also quiet- and shippers are inclined to consider bids slightly below their asking prices. Provincial auctions in France have all shown a weak tendency. On the other hand, Scandinavian hides have been comparatively firm. Leather is moving slowly, but prices are quite . rm, and tanners are not pressing to sell. AUCTION DIARV TO-DAY.
