Exports Show Large Increase GREAT PRODUCTION YEAR Imports Continue to Rise Exports from New Zealand during June showed the usual seasonal decline, but at £5,493,000, their value was £1,272,000 ahead of that for June, 1936. Imports last month were valued at £3,960,000, a decline of £481,000 on the Maj' figure, but £526,000 in excess of that for June, 1936. For the twelve montlis of the “production year”' ended June 30, exports readied the record value of £64,621,000. while imports were valued at £50,001,000, making a total trade for the year of £114,622,000. The returns issued yesterday by the Customs Department show that exports during June were valued at £5,493,000, an increase of £1,272,000 over those for June, 1936, and £2,266,000 in excess of those for June, 1935. Imports during June were valued at £3,960,000, an increase of £526,000 over those for June, 1936, and £1,604,000 above those for June, 1935. The June figures for the last three years compare as follows:—

For the first half of this year ended June 30, exports reached the high level of £42,100,000, an increase of £7,869,000 over those for the corresponding six months of last year, and £14,991,000 in excess of those for the six months Of 1935. Imports are still mounting up, those for the latest six months being valued at £25,727,000. an increase of £5,866,000 over those for the 1936 period, and more than £9,000,000 above those for the first half of 1935.
