BUDAPEST QUARTET
Charity Concert on Tuesday Of the Budapest Quartet, who are to .make their only public appearance in Wellington at a charity concert in the Town Hall next Tuesday, an overseas critic says: “It would bo difficult to imagine four players- with finer collaboration, affinity of tone quality, unity of exprecsional feeling and other elements in string quartet work. and. again, the interpretation of each quartet has been such as would be possible only by artists of the highest accomplishment and gift.” Critics the world over have voiced their appreciation of these four famous in equally glowing tributes’. With such a brilliant nnd distinguished combination us the attraction. Tuesday night's concert may well be regarded as a notable musical event. An appropriate vocal interlude will be provided by Miss Mary Pratt, a talented South Island contralto, who will be heard in a group of Grieg’s delightful songs.
