SPEEDING MOTORISTS
Speeding motorists in the Petone borough were dealt with by Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court, Petone, yesterday on informations laid by the borough inspector, Mr. G. A. Booth. The speeds averaged from 37 to 41 miles an hour. The following were each fined £2 with costs 10/-: Thomas Bone Arbuthnott, 37 m p.h.; Frederick Cresswell, 39 m.p.li.; Robert William Hutchinson, 41 m.p.h.; Sydney Frederick Haines, 37 m.p.h.; Robert Thomas Jabez Hogg. 41 m.p.h.: Cyril Nausbaum, 37 m.p.h.; Harold Barrett, 37 m.p.h.; and Alberto Meo, 37 m.p.h., were each fined 30/- with costs 10/-. William Thomas Gerald McGavin was fined £2 with costs 10/- for exceeding the speed limit at Eastbourne and 5/- with costs 10/- for having no tail-light on his car. Constable R. D. Squire estimated McGavin’s speed at 40 miles an hour; McGavin admitted 35 m.p.h. Luther Sing Hare was fined 10/- with costs 16/- for parking an unlighted lorry in Udy Street at night. Senior-Sergeant H. C. D. Wade said a motor-cyclist collided with the lorry. Basketball Fixtures. The Hutt Valley Basketball Association fixtures for Saturday are;—A grade; Randwick A v. Foubister; Hutt Aotea v. Hutt Valley 0.G.. Randwick .School No. 2, 3.20 p.m., Air. O’Sullivan; Trinity, a bye.
C grade: AlcKenzies v. AlcDuffs, Petone Central No. 1. 2 p.m.. Airs. Hook; Randwick Cl v. Randwick C2, Petone Central No. 1, 2.20 p.m., Mrs. Hook; Bluebirds v. Convent 0.G., Petone Central No. 2,2 p.m., Alfes G. Aliddleton; Technical O.G. v. Lever Bros., Petone Central No. 2, 2.20 p.m., G. Aliddleton; Upper Hutt, a bye.
