Dominion’s Coronation Contingent ARRIVAL IN LONDON March Past New Zealand House (Received April 20, 12.30 a.m.) London, April 19. Despite its early arrival a large crowd welcomed the New Zealand Coronation contingent at Tilbury Docks. The khaki uniforms and red-banded hats revived wartime memories. The disembarkation was made without a hitch, and all were ready for the special train for London, due at 12.30 p.m. A later message states that a large crowd gathered at St. Pancras station to greet the contingent. Numbers rushed forward, several women attempting to embrace the men, despite the efforts of the police. After several minutes’ scramble the New Zealanders were able to line up, when they were welcomed by the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, in an impromptu speech from a platform. This was followed by three terrific cheers. Then the troops moved off, headed by the Grenadier Guards Band, to march past the be-llagged and garlanded New Zealand House, in the Strand, where Mr. Jordan took the salute from the balcony.
