The extent to which the well-known Nazi salute is employed in Germany is the subject of comment by an Auckland resident, who relates Continental impressions in a letter received by friends in Auckland. “The salute is nothing like as much in evidence as I expected it to be,” he states. “In fact, I was told that quite a considerable proportion of the population is now letting it lapse into disuse although this is a matter of fashion in different districts, and no doubt if anybody gave the salute it would immediately be returned.”
