Matches at Trentham DIFFICULT CONDITIONS Wellington defence rifle clubs had tricky wind conditions to contend with while holding their weekly competitions at Trentham on Saturday, when the range was 600 yards. Karori Club In the Karori club’s match, R. J. Stewart reached the club standard of 90 with his handicap. The best score off the rifle was an 87 by J. McKelvie.

Old Navals Club The Old Navals club fired the fifth shoot in their fourth .series on Saturday. Following are the scores: — GOO 600

Petone Club The Petone club’s results counted for the fifth series. W. H. Ballinger made the outstanding single range score of the day with a 49, which under the conditions prevailing was an excellent effort. J. Devine was the next best with a 46, and B. Dunn, W. M. Jackson, T. McNab, and P. Stewart each made 45. With two shoots to go to count for the Burridge and Longfield handicap aggregate cups, W. H. Ballinger is leading for the Burridge Cup with 949 points, followed by R. H. Nicholl 942. Both these two men are equal with 942 points for the Longfield aggregate. The range next Saturday will be 800 yards. Following are Saturday’s scores: — 600 600 yds. yds. Hep. TI.

Suburbs Club The Suburbs Rifle Club completed its season’s activities on Saturday morning with a competition over 800, 900, and 1000 yards. The club championship was won by L. Fellingham, whose shooting has been consistently good. His average of 46.6 over all ranges at Trentham this season is a splendid one. The 900 yards series, with penalties applied, resulted as follows: —L. Wilkinson and L. Fellingham, 1761; H. Hunt, 175 J. Luke Memorial Cup: L. Wilkinson. “Daily Mail’’ Cup: H. Hunt. Newton Cup: H. Greytown Championship Postponed Greytown, April 19. Unforeseen circumstances compelled the postponement of the shooting for the Greytown Rille Club’s championship at the last moment. A few members coining from a distance were met at the range and a practice was fired at 300, 500 and (JOO yards. In spite of the cold and with rain threatening, shooting was good. Three cards of 99 out of tho possible 105 were returned and there were two possibles at 500yds. Following are the scores.:— 300 500 600

Levin Club April 19. The Levin Rifle Club fired two shoots of 10 shots at 500yds. on Saturday. The weather was fine, but with occasional gusts of wind. R. Tsuifriim recorded two good shoots of 48 and 49, and R. Ralston, H. Stratton and J. Eagle returned improved totals. Results are as follows:—
